Calhoun accountant Kyle Johnson believes relationships are important, whether they are community relationships, business relationships or personal relationships, and he runs his business with that philosophy in mind.
“My business is a good mix — about half of my clients are individuals and the other half are companies, ranging from partnerships to LLCs to small corporations,” he said. “We have a good reputation in Calhoun and Gordon County.”
Most of his clients are from Calhoun and Gordon County, but Johnson’s business reach extends well beyond the state of Georgia, with clients from as far away as Texas and Puerto Rico.
Johnson can handle the intricacies of incorporation, including the maze of Internal Revenue Service regulations.
“We do business bookkeeping, tax preparation and financial statements, and we can handle payroll checks and direct deposit for businesses and their employees,” he said. “We also do all aspects of tax filing, and we handle Refund Anticipation Loans.”
Johnson believes it is important to give back to the community. “I want to have a community-oriented business, and I have served as treasurer of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, I’ve rung the bell at Kroger for Salvation Army, I’m treasurer of the Calhoun Rotary Club and served on the Planning and Zoning Commission for 10 years. It feels good to be able to help my community, and it gives me a great deal of satisfaction.”
While his business runs the gamut between business owners, professionals and individuals, Johnson says he treats all his clients the same.
In addition to Johnson, Kyle Johnson, CPA, has two full-time and two part-time employees and usually has an intern on staff, as well.
Johnson, a Certified Public Accountant, graduated from the University of West Georgia in 1991.
He began working for Calhoun accountant Ron Ralston while he was in school and became a full-time employee in 1992. In May 2002, Johnson bought the business outright. While now known as Kyle Johnson, CPA, the business has been operating in Calhoun under different names for more than 50 years. “When I bought the business, I found tax returns in the files that were older than I was,” Johnson said.
